Online Courses For Eye Care Professionals

Online courses refers to those courses in which we can easily gain information and knowledge without attending formal college/university classes. In the field of Ophthalmology too, to increase the knowledge of eye health professionals, some of the organizations have developed online courses. Some of the online courses are as follows:

  • Aurosiksha Free short online courses for eye care professionals to help them maintain skills and continue their professional development, from Lions Aravind Institute of Community Ophthalmology (LAICO), India. Visit www.aurosiksha.org
  • International Centre for Eye Health (ICEH) An online short course on Global Blindness: Planning and Managing Eye Care Services introduces the magnitude and causes of visual impairment at a global level, highlights key global initiatives to manage avoidable blindness, and provides practical approaches to strengthen and plan local eye health services, with an emphasis on low- and middle-income country settings.   •  EyecareCE Free and low cost online courses for the entire eye care team: nurses, ophthalmic assistants, orthoptists, ophthalmic photographers and clinical officers. Over 280 courses in 20 content areas, by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO). Visit: www.eyecarece.org
  • ORBIS Cybersight Free courses on strabismus, cataract, paediatric ophthalmology, neuroophthalmology and the cornea are currently available. Registration is free. Visit www.cybersight.org
