1,952 children in 8 districts identified with visual defects

A sum of 1,952 children from different parts of eight districts in the country has been diagnosed with visual defects.

Bharatpur Eye Hospital in the past 11 months had conducted School screening eye check-up camps for children of 144 schools in Chitwan, Bara, Parsa, Makawanpur, Nawalpur, Tanahu, Gorkha and Dhading districts.

A total of 67,648 children underwent eye check-ups during the camps.

The findings of school screening camp show that a large number of school children are suffering from visual defects, without having the knowledge of the same. During the screening camps, glasses were distributed to children having the problem of refractive errors.

According to the Hospital manager Daya Shankar Chaudhary  “school teachers were also given classes on eye health and its importance so as to seek their help to find out children with eye problems on time and treat them.”
