The Nepal Eye Program (NEP), Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology (TIO) has announced new career opportunities for qualified Nepali candidates. The vacancy notice, published on 21 June 2026 on Annapurna National Daily newspaper, includes openings for senior ophthalmologists, ophthalmology fellowship candidates, and an ophthalmic assistant.

Available Positions
1. Senior Ophthalmologist
Level: 9
Employment type: Time-bound
Number required: Few
Minimum qualifications:
- MD/MS or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
- At least five years of professional experience after MBBS
- Preference will be given to candidates who have completed a fellowship
Work responsibility and location:
Selected candidates will work as senior ophthalmologists at Hetauda Community Eye Hospital, Khwopa Tilganga Eye Hospital, or other hospitals within the TIO network.
2. Fellowship in Ophthalmology
Tilganga is accepting applications for fellowship opportunities in the following subspecialties:
- Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery/OPAL
- Lens and Cataract
- Neuro-Ophthalmology
- Glaucoma
Number required: Few
Minimum qualifications:
- MD/MS in Ophthalmology or an equivalent qualification
- Preference will be given to candidates who have completed an anterior-segment fellowship
Requirement:
Candidates must be willing to work at Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology, its network hospitals, or partner hospitals after completing the fellowship.
3. Ophthalmic Assistant
Level: 5B
Employment type: Time-bound
Number required: One
Minimum qualifications:
- Certificate-level qualification in Ophthalmology or an equivalent qualification
- Registration with the Nepal Health Professional Council
Duty station:
The selected candidate will be assigned to the Surgical Community Eye Centre in Solukhumbu.
