Free Eye Check to Drivers and Conductors of the bus in Rolpa
On 7th March, Wednesday-2018, bus drivers and bus conductors of Rolpa district were given free comprehensive eye exam. The eye screening camp was organized by Nepal Red Cross Society branch of Rolpa. 36 Drivers and Bus Conductors of Long and small route vehicles were examined for Myopia/ Hypermetropia said the Incharge Renu Chaudhary of District Community Eye Centre, Rolpa which is run by Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology.

Since the analytics and data of accidents came out, it was found, most of the accidents happening in Rolpa is only because of Refractive Error present in the eyes of drivers said the Chairmen of Red cross society, and District Community eye centre Rolpa Mr. Naulasingh Pun.

In the screening camp, the traffic police department of Rolpa also took a detail-oriented class about the use of traffic signs. Jaljala bus service limited’s administrative head, Yagyaswar Acharya believes that the refresher class about traffic rules to the drivers and conductors would help minimize the accidental incidents happening in the district of Rolpa. Rolpa traffic police department’s Inspector of police Mr Krishna Bahadur B.K told that these sort of Screening Camps would help to minimize the risks of Vehicle accidents.
 

According to district traffic police department, In the past 3 years alone, a total of 56 vehicles accidents has happened in Rolpa district in which 12 people have died and more than 80 people were severely injured.

About District Community Eye Centre, Rolpa:

The District Community Eye Centre, Rolpa is situated in Liwang Headqatar of Rolpa. It was established in June 2008. The agreement between Nepal Red Cross Society and Nepal Eye Program, Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology was done to operate the eye care centre as mentioned on website of TIO.  This District Community Eye Centre is supported by the Fred Hollows Foundation (FHF), Australia.
