Difference
- QuickSee have binocular sensors so you can take measurement of both eyes at the same time (minimum 10 sec), while e-see only have a monocular sensor so you can only measure one eye at the time and you have to rotate the auto refractometer to examine another eye (Result time 10+10 sec = 20 sec).

Advantages of e-see autorefractor
Portable & Light Weight
The e-see autorefractor is portable, which means easy to carry from one place to another place. As we are using this e-see for more than a year, we feel more comfortable to use this machine in outreach programs, such as school screening camps and other Diagnostic Screening and Treatment (DST) camps. It comes with having an external Bluetooth thermal printer, so you can print the results at the time. The weight of this device is 1 Kg. The size is 11*6.5*3.25 in
Can be used in both indoors and outdoors
If you don’t have an indoor semi-dark room then you don’t need to worry, you can use this e-see device in any environment.
Rechargeable battery
This e-see device has inbuilt rechargeable battery, The company claims battery working time is 6-8 Hours of Operation; 6 Hours charge time (8 hours for initial charge), but as per our experience it doesn’t work for 6 hours if you have a large number of patients and used continuously it will work around 3-4 hours. If you are planning to conduct camps in the remote
area where is the lacking of electricity supply, you can charge this device by using power banks also. The original adapter of e-see comes with an output voltage of 5V: 2.4A, If you have genuine power banks most of their output power will be around 5V: 2.1 A. The e-see has a Micro USB charging point and your mobile charger cable will also work for it.
Wavefront aberrometry
Wavefront aberrometry is an advanced technique used in ophthalmology to measure how light through passes through the cornea and the crystalline lens, the refractive (light focusing) components of the eye. Distortions to the wavefront of light that occur as the wavefront of light travels through the eye are called aberrations, representing specific vision errors, and are captured with specialized optics called a Shack-Hartmann wavefront sensor. These specialized optical components are not typically found in traditional desktop autorefractors.
In the clinic, wavefront aberrometry technology can be used to precisely measure lower-order aberrations objectively (“autorefraction”), often with more accuracy with respect to subjective refraction than a traditional desktop autorefractor. Low-order aberrations can be corrected by spherical and cylindrical eyeglass lenses for nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism.
Best Accuracy
The manufacturers claim accuracy about <= 0.25 D: 60-70% of patients<= 0.5 D: 80-90% of patients (see publications), but as per my experience, it has very good accuracy if you used it properly and if your patient feels comfortable with it. All refractometer needs subjective refinement of power strength and axis. Prescribing purely from the autorefractor prescription is unfeasible in practice.

Limited Power Range
Not Suitable for High Volume Patient flow
It is rechargeable and if you have a high volume of patients, you can’t use it at the same time of charging, like other refractometers that work with direct electricity. You have to take breaks for charging.

The price of e-see portable autorefractor in Nepal is around 5 Lakh (NPR 500,000), as I get price information from Aurolab’s authorized distributors for Nepal (Sweekriti International Pvt. Ltd).
