Auropent is a clear, colourless solution. Each ml contains cyclopentolate hydrochloride 10 mg and Benzalkonium chloride 0.2 mg.
CLINICAL PHARMACOLOGY
Auropent is a Mydriatic and Cycloplegic drug. Following topical application to the eye, cyclopentolate blocks the action of acetylcholine at the Muscarinic receptors in the iris sphincter and ciliary muscle thus produce Mydriasis and Cycloplegia. It has a rapid onset of action and a shorter duration of action than atropine or homatropine. The maximum mydriatic effect of cyclopentolate occurs within about 15-60 minutes. Maximum cycloplegic occurs within about 15-20 minutes. Mydriasis and cycloplegia generally last about 24 hours; however, some mydriasis may persist for several days.
INDICATIONS
Auropent is used for Cycloplegic and Mydriasis in diagnostic procedures. Such as Cyclo Refraction.
CONTRAINDICATIONS OF AUROPENT
Primary glaucoma or a tendency toward glaucoma, hypersensitivity to Belladonna alkaloids or any component of the products.

Cyclopentolate may also antagonize the Antiglaucoma actions of carbachol or pilocarpine; these agents may interfere with the Mydriatic action of cyclopentolate, which may be of clinical benefit.
